Located in Southeast Asia, Malaysia is a country composed of 13 states and 3 federal territories stretching across 329,845 square kilometres. Malaysia is separated into East and West Malaysia by the South China Sea—West Malaysia, also known as Peninsula Malaysia is located between Thailand, Indonesia and Singapore, while East Malaysia, also known as Malaysian Borneo, borders Brunei and Indonesia. Kuala Lumpur is the capital of Malaysia and also the largest city in the country, located on central West Malaysia within the state of Selangor. The country is multi-ethnic and multi-cultural, with most people being Malay, but there are also Chinese and Indians. Its official language is Malay written in the Latin alphabet. English is a recognised language and also the official language in Sarawak state along with Malay. Tamil and Chinese is also often used. There are over 130 other languages spoken in Malaysia, with 94 in Malaysian Borneo and 40 on the peninsula. Islam is the official religion, but non-Malay citizens have the freedom to practice other religions.

Kuala Lumpur

The Petronas Twin Towers

  • The Petronas Twin Towers are one of the World’s famous and tallest architectural pieces and have visited by billions of people from around the world. The towers are the headquarters of Petronas, the national petroleum company of Malaysia. It is one of the best places to visit in Kuala Lumpur. Both the towers are 88 stories high and are identical to each other with a pyramid-shaped top fitted with a slender steel spire. The 41st and 42nd floor of the towers are linked through a skybridge allowing people to travel within the towers. Apart from the headquarters of Petronas, there are various shopping malls, complexes and food courts inside the tower for the common people. They can even enjoy the skyline of the city from the towers. It is one of the best places to visit in Malaysia.

Langkawi

  • Malaysia’s best-known holiday destination, Langkawi is an archipelago of 99 islands in the Andaman Sea. The islands are a part of the state of Kedah, which is adjacent to the Thai border. By far the largest of the islands is the eponymous Pulau Langkawi with a population of about 65,000, the only other inhabited island being nearby Pulau Tuba. Fringed with long, white beaches and with an interior of jungle covered hills and craggy mountain peaks, it’s easy to see why this is Malaysia’s most heavily promoted tourist destination. The most popular beaches can be found on the west coast with a wide choice of restaurants and eateries and some of the best resorts in Langkawi.
